Cleaning removes dirt. Disinfection reduces the microbial load — the bacteria and viruses — on the surfaces we treat. Most homes only need the first. But there are times when a proper sanitising service is worth it.
Good reasons to disinfect
After illness or an outbreak — flu, gastro or an infectious-disease scare — a whole-property disinfection targets the high-touch points: handles, switches, benches, bathrooms and shared surfaces. It’s also a sensible reset between tenancies, before a new occupant moves in, or for offices and shared commercial spaces.
What it is — and isn’t
Disinfection is a cleaning service, not sterilisation and not a medical or regulatory clearance. It reduces microbes on the surfaces treated at the time of the work; it can’t stop a property being contaminated again through everyday use, and it doesn’t certify the absence of any specific pathogen unless that’s expressly agreed.
If someone in the property has been unwell, or you just want a hygienic reset before moving in, that’s exactly the kind of job it’s for — just ask when you book.
General information only — every property is different, and nothing here replaces a professional, on-site assessment.
