Overview

The water you can’t see is under the carpet

Carpet feels dry on top long before the underlay and subfloor beneath it are. That trapped moisture is what causes the musty smell, the delamination and the mould that shows up a week or two after a leak or flood.

Carpet drying done properly means extracting the water, then drying the whole system — pile, backing, underlay and the floor beneath — usually by floating the carpet with air movers so warm, dry air gets underneath it. Where the water is clean and we get there early, the carpet can very often be saved.

We’ll always tell you honestly what’s salvageable. Carpet soaked by clean water and dried quickly usually comes back; carpet sitting in contaminated (grey or black) water, or wet for a long time, is often better replaced for health reasons.

FAQ

Common questions

Can my wet carpet be saved?

Often, yes — if it was clean water and we get to it quickly. Contaminated water (from sewage or flood water) or carpet that’s been wet for days is usually better replaced for health reasons. We’ll give you a straight answer.

Why not just lift the carpet and let it dry?

Lifting can damage the carpet and backing, and the subfloor still stays wet. Floating the carpet in place with commercial air movers dries the whole system faster and keeps the carpet re-layable.

What’s that musty smell?

It’s moisture trapped in the underlay and backing starting to grow microbes. Drying the full system and treating it removes the cause — masking sprays don’t.

How long until I can use the room?

Drying usually takes a couple of days. We’ll let you know when the carpet and the floor beneath it have reached a safe, dry reading.

Trusted by Brisbane property owners

Real feedback from real customers we've helped.

Names all three crews

I genuinely couldn't count the number of times Harold and his team have come to the rescue.

I first met Harold in January 2024 through the real estate agency I was working for at the time, and he has become one of the few tradespeople I know I can rely on without hesitation.

As a Property Manager, you place an enormous amount of trust in the contractors you engage. You need honest advice, practical solutions and confidence that they're doing what's right by your owners and tenants, not what's most profitable. Harold consistently delivers exactly that.

From general property maintenance with 1HandyDad, to mould remediation through Mould Assassins and emergency flood and water damage restoration with Flood Responders, Harold and his team have helped prevent countless headaches and unnecessary losses for not only myself, but my investors and tenants. Every job is approached with professionalism, integrity and genuine compassion.

If I could give six stars, I absolutely would. I couldn't recommend Harold and his team more highly. They're the kind of people you hope you never need, but when you do, you'll be incredibly glad you called them.

Thanks for always having my back ❤️
